Founded in 1979 to represent chefs and cooks from Bowser to the northern tip of Vancouver Island, we are a non-profit association and a branch of the Canadian Culinary Federation. In 2006 we achieved official society status as the CCFCC North Vancouver Island Chefs Association. Our goals are to promote culinary excellence, aid the growth and development of our industry, and provide a network for our membership. We are increasingly taking an educational role in promoting healthy lifestyles, conscientious food purchasing and global awareness in all that we do. Working with local high schools and colleges, we strive to assist aspiring individuals in developing the skills which are in demand today in our industry. For deserving students and apprentices we offer financial assistance for education. We have produced a video to inform the public and future culinarians on what the industry needs and what a chef's position may entail. This video is available through all branch members. |
Networking with professional colleagues in the industry, you will have access to educational programs, workshops, seminars, lectures, and a library of videos and books. Various programs are offered to our members, including certification and management courses.
Keep up to date on labour and human rights standards, and benefit from hearing speakers from local farms with specialty products. Tour island wineries, and learn about new products and equipment from sales rep presentations.
Monthly meetings are held on the first Monday of each month, and the minutes are available on this website, as is a schedule of our events, fundraisers, and other activities.
